Lancaster County is rich in history, growing throughout the centuries along the banks of the beautiful Catawba River. Today, our county boasts a campus of The University of South Carolina, a local newspaper, "The Lancaster News," an award-winning school system, a state-of-the-art hospital, a community theater, a lovely and historic bed and breakfast, "Kilburnie," a multitude of churches, and many artisans. Toward the panhandle of our county is Andrew Jackson State Park, located near our country's seventh president's boyhood home and, nearby, the most successful Sun City in the country: Sun City Carolina Lakes.
An abundance of small businesses provide every service needed, from legal services to plumbing, heating and air conditioning. We have an active office of the Clemson Extension Service, a Master Gardener organization, and a chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Thursdays and Saturdays, visitors and residents frequent our county's Farmers' Market for fresh produce grown locally and across the state.
There are many more wonderful things happening in Lancaster County than can be listed here, so please just come visit us and explore!
